PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

 

The objective of the Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) in Medical Office Management is to provide the student with the appropriate didactic theory, hands-on skills, communications skills, and technical expertise necessary to prepare them for entry level employment in health care management. Built upon the foundational allied health skills acquired in a diploma program, the degree program provides the student with knowledge of business structures and laws, computerized procedures, accounting, and up-to-date office technologies, built upon a foundation of skills in keyboarding, basic mathematics, and English grammar and composition. The Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) in Medical Office Management is a 648 Clock Hours/54.0 Credit Unit course of study. 

 

PURPOSE OF THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE

 

The Advisory Committee will meet semiannually to achieve the following purposes:

 

1.      Review the program for content and appropriate length.

2.      Review facilities and equipment.

3.      Review textbooks and instructional materials.

4.      Review library and learning resource materials.

5.      Propose changes in any of the above-mentioned areas to maintain relevancy and currency in the field.

 

STEPS TO FORMING THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE

 

  1. Develop list of potential members. (Employers who have hired graduates and faculty working in the field are excellent sources for names of potential members.)
  2. Contact potential members by telephone.
  3. Select date and time for initial meeting.
  4. Draft agenda and related materials for meeting.
  5. Send former invitation to potential members.
  6. Hold meeting.
  7. Send minutes of meeting to all members.
