Letters of Recommendation
Teachers and educational administrators are often called upon to write letters to recommend students and colleagues for employment or appointment to a particular office. Typically, such letters are written in a formal style, always referring to individuals by their surnames, rather than given names. Letters of recommendation should praise the individual's merits and achievements; it may be useful to give examples that illustrate their most positive characteristics.
School Board
Elected by the citizenry, a school board has the responsibility to oversee the operation of public schools within a specific community. The superintendent of the school district is hired by the school board to handle the day-to-day management. A business analogy would be the board of directors elected by shareholders to establish policy and procedures for a corporation; the chief executive officer is hired to handle daily affairs.
