STUDENT PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE:

By the end of the lesson, the student will be able to:

Match the names of the five PowerPoint views to descriptions of the view.

How will students be evaluated and what methods will be used to measure competence?

Test Question: Match the PowerPoint View listed on the left with the description of the view.

1. Normal

Displays a single slide as it appears in your presentation.

2. Outline

Displays your slides as an electronic presentation.

3. Slide

Displays three panes: outline pane, slide pane, notes pane.

4. Slide Sorter

Displays a presentation in outline format

5. Slide Show

Displays miniature version of all slides in the presentation.

ANTICIPATORY SET OR MENTAL READINESS (describe the introduction to the lesson you will use to get the students involved in the lesson):

Explain that PowerPoint offers different ways to view presentations to assist in creating, editing and showing.

Time Required: 1 minute

INSTRUCTIONAL COMPONENTS (include type of lesson and major concepts to be covered):

Project each of the 5 PowerPoint views naming each and describe when it is best used (refer to Table 1-1 on textbook page PP 1.13)

Time Required: 4 minutes

CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING AND/OR GUIDED PRACTICE AND INDEPENDENT PRACTICE:

Project several different views asking students to name each view as it displays

Time Required: 2 minutes

CLOSURE ("Are there any questions?" is NOT an adequate closure):

Suggest that students review the material in Table 1-1 in preparation for the test

Time Required: 1 minute

MATERIALS NEEDED (video, worksheets, overhead, computer, quiz, etc.)

For students: Textbook - Office 2000 Introductory Concepts and Techniques

For instructor: Textbook, computer with PowerPoint software, data projector

STANDARD FOR ENGAGING AND SUPPORTING ALL STUDENTS IN LEARNING: In this lesson, I again use technology to enhance student learning by projecting the various PowerPoint views instead of just describing them.
