STUDENT PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE:

By the end of the lesson, the student will be able to:

Choose a design template from the list of templates installed on the computer.

How will students be evaluated and what methods will be used to measure competence?

Students will create a PowerPoint presentation which will require choosing a design template.

ANTICIPATORY SET OR MENTAL READINESS (describe the introduction to the lesson you will use to get the students involved in the lesson):

Tell students that one of the key features of using PowerPoint is that you can choose a design template that will provide consistency in design and color throughout the presentation

Review the Student Performance Objective (from above)

Time Required: 1 minute

INSTRUCTIONAL COMPONENTS (include type of lesson and major concepts to be covered):

Demonstrate, using the computer/data projector, and describe the steps for choosing a design template as outlined in the textbook (pp. PP 1.18-1.20)

Time Required: 2 minutes

CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING AND/OR GUIDED PRACTICE AND INDEPENDENT PRACTICE:

Each student will use the steps outlined in the textbook to choose the suggested design template

Time Required: 2 minutes

CLOSURE ("Are there any questions?" is NOT an adequate closure):

Suggest that student review the list of design templates on the computer to become familiar with the names

bullet

Remind them that they will be asked to choose a design template for the test.

Time Required: 1 minute

MATERIALS NEEDED (video, worksheets, overhead, computer, quiz, etc.)

For each student: Textbook - Office 2000 Introductory Concepts and Techniques, computer with Power Point software

For the instructor: Textbook, computer with PowerPoint software, data projector

STANDARD FOR ENGAGING AND SUPPORTING ALL STUDENTS IN LEARNING: In this lesson, I again various instructional strategies (demonstration, directed discovery) to enhance student learning.
