STUDENT PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE:

By the end of the lesson, the student will be able to:

Save a presentation on a floppy disk.

How will students be evaluated and what methods will be used to measure competence?

Students will create a PowerPoint presentation that must be saved to a floppy disk.

ANTICIPATORY SET OR MENTAL READINESS (describe the introduction to the lesson you will use to get the students involved in the lesson):

Explain that while one is working on the presentation, the computer is storing it in RAM but students should save the presentation frequently to prevent possible loss of information if the computer is turned off or there is a power failure; acknowledge that many students already know how to save to a floppy disk

Time Required: 1 minute

INSTRUCTIONAL COMPONENTS (include type of lesson and major concepts to be covered):

Demonstrate saving a presentation on a floppy disk using the information found on pages PP 1.28-1.31

Time Required: 3 minutes

CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING AND/OR GUIDED PRACTICE AND INDEPENDENT PRACTICE:

Ask students why they should save their presentation often.

Students will the presentation they have been working on using the steps outlined in the text.

Time Required: 2 minute

CLOSURE ("Are there any questions?" is NOT an adequate closure):

Remind students that, for the test, they will create a presentation that must be saved on a floppy disk so they should be thoroughly familiar with this process

Each presentation they create should be saved in the same manner.

Time required: 1 minute

MATERIALS NEEDED (video, worksheets, overhead, computer, quiz, etc.)

For each student: Textbook - Office 2000 Introductory Concepts and Techniques, computer with PowerPoint software

For instructor: Textbook, computer with PowerPoint software, data projector

STANDARD FOR ENGAGING AND SUPPORTING ALL STUDENTS IN LEARNING: In this lesson, I use technology to enhance student learning by demonstrating saving to a floppy disk, as well as connecting students' prior knowledge of how to save work on a floppy disk.
